Prognition has developed a powerful knowledge management tool called Maven. Maven is a best-practices reference tool for physiotherapists, which reduces paper work while improving patient outcomes from assessment through to treatment and rehabilitation.

Typically physiotherapists assess problems and develop a treatment plan with their patients. Currently this process is recorded and reported manually on paper, and stored in patient files in the office. Often patients have difficulty retaining all the information that is shared during the appointment, and struggle to execute their treatment plan effectively after they leave the office. The paper process is time consuming for the physiotherapist and does not maximize patient outcomes.

Maven provides a new option. Maven is a software program populated with the knowledge of leading physiotherapists. In an applied setting, the physiotherapist now sees a patient, and uses the software to identify the problems in the assessment from a list provided by Maven. The physiotherapist can also include notes or details specific to the patient’s physical condition, customizing the software as they go.

Based upon the combination of selections and notes identified in the assessment, Maven creates a treatment plan automatically populated by best-practice resource information to aid both the patient and the physiotherapist on how to best complete the exercises and stretches at each stage of the patient’s rehabilitation.

The outputs are reviewed by the practitioner to ensure the best-practice solution is consistent with their desired approach. The physiotherapist can easily modify any specific elements of the report and customize the software to integrate their personal experience, knowledge and treatment preferences.

Once the plan automatically populated by Maven is approved or modified by the physiotherapist, it is attached to the patient’s file and a copy is given to the patient to take home. Now the patient and the physiotherapist each have a customized and personalized report that explains the assessment and outlines the treatment plan.

The result is an immediate professional, timely and clear package of information premised on best-practices populated for patients, maintained electronically for practitioners, and available to third-party insurers.

Early pilot studies report 15% efficiency gains by Maven users. By reducing paper work and administrative tasks, physiotherapists are able to and spend more time working hands on with their patients, and communicate more effectively so that they can improve outcomes after patients leave the office.

Maven’s knowledge management tool saves time, improves customer satisfaction and connects physiotherapists through a dynamic and cutting edge professional resource tool.
